Exploring New Places, Learning Beyond Books
At The AMAF Schools, we believe that education goes beyond the four walls of a classroom. Learning becomes more meaningful when learners have the opportunity to experience the world firsthand. This philosophy came to life during our recent educational tour, where our Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3 learners embarked on an exciting adventure to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Paradise Lost, Kiambu.
The trip was not only educational but also fun-filled, providing our young learners with unforgettable experiences and valuable life lessons.
A Visit to JKIA: Discovering Our World
The first stop on our journey was Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), one of the busiest airports in Africa. The learners were fascinated by the sight of airplanes taking off and landing, airport operations, and the many people working together to ensure smooth travel.
The visit helped learners:
- Understand how airports operate.
- Learn about different modes of transportation.
- Appreciate careers in aviation and travel.
- Develop curiosity about the wider world beyond their immediate environment.
For many learners, seeing airplanes up close was a dream come true and inspired conversations about future aspirations and global travel.
Paradise Lost: Adventure, Nature, and Fun
The adventure continued at Paradise Lost, one of Kenya’s most beautiful recreational and educational destinations. Surrounded by nature, learners explored the environment, interacted with different natural features, and enjoyed recreational activities in a safe and exciting setting.
The visit provided opportunities for learners to:
- Appreciate nature and environmental conservation.
- Build social skills through teamwork and shared experiences.
- Develop confidence by exploring new environments.
- Create lasting memories with friends and teachers.
The excitement and joy on the learners’ faces reflected the success of the day as they discovered the beauty of learning through exploration.
Building Lifelong Memories
One of the highlights of the tour was the opportunity for learners to bond with their classmates, teachers, and support staff. Sharing meals, participating in activities, and exploring together strengthened friendships and fostered a sense of community.
Educational tours help learners develop:
- Independence and responsibility.
- Communication and teamwork skills.
- Confidence in unfamiliar environments.
- A broader understanding of the world around them.
These experiences contribute significantly to holistic learning and personal growth.
Gratitude to Our School Community
The success of this educational tour would not have been possible without the support of our entire school community.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to:
- Our learners for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and exemplary behavior.
- Our parents and guardians for entrusting us with their children and supporting this learning experience.
- Our dedicated teachers and staff for their commitment, planning, and care throughout the trip.
Your collective efforts made this day truly memorable and impactful.
